Some updates and clarifications are in order:

1. There will be a max participation of 16 athletes per gym. 8 Men and 8 Women. This doesn't mean every gym gets 16 athlete slots, it means that a gym can register a max of 16 athletes.

2. There cannot be more than 6 athletes, from any one gym, in a single division. If you decide to register 6 Advanced women form your gym, you have 10 slots left to fill the 5 remaining divisions (adv m, intermediate m and f, masters m and f)

3. There is a ceiling on maximum competitors that we can handle. Once that maximum is reached, registration will cease and there will be no more available slots. What this means is REGISTER EARLY! We'll do our best to accommodate as many athletes as possible, but plan to register early to avoid problems.

We will be in contact. Have a great day, and train hard!

Here is a brief overview (updated as of May 8, 2010):

Cap entries per gym @ 16 competitors total. Male competitors = 8 max / Female competitors = 8 max. No more than 6 slots in any ONE division. So one gym can't have 10 advanced male athletes competing.

Total male/ female advanced competitors = 50 each

Total male/ female intermediate competitors= 60 each

Total male/ female masters competitors = 15 each

Early Registration will open on July 1 2010 @ 12pm and close July 16 2010 @ 12am

Individual Competitor registration fee = $40 before July 16 2010 @ 12am. After July 16 12am and before July 25 2010 12am registration fee = $50.

Team registration fee = $50. Team entries accepted for advanced and intermediate divisions only

Registration fee includes full day of competition, a competitor bag filled with the series t-shirt, water bottle, and competitor wrists bands plus other goodies from our participating sponsor.

To ensure quality control we strongly suggest each affiliate hold a tryout. This tryout will help eliminate range of motion issues and athletes not quite ready to compete.

All competitors must complete division qualification form for verification of division placing. This sheet will be available for download before registration opens. Go to http://www.crossfitnlp.com/_blog/Next_Level_Invitational

Qualified Judges are needed. Judges must be Level 1 certified with experience coaching in an active affiliate. The application will be available for download @ http://www.crossfitnlp.com/_blog/Next_Level_Invitational. This is the most important position of the entire event. We must maintain quality in order to build the sports reputation. It is up to us to step up and create the baseline for all other events to look up to.

Email all questions to: NextLevelInvitational@gmail.com

The Next Level Invitational is reaching out to all area affiliates, friends and family for help. We need approx 15-20 more couragous volunteers and approx 10 more judges. We are looking to create an event and experience worthy of repeating. The easy part is the securing the venue, planning the wods, planning the setup and all the other tiny details. The hard part is having the manpower to execute the plan. We have a great event planned for both spectators and competitors. The proper amount of man/woman power just makes it easier.

If your affiliates have competitors competing please try to have some volunteers assisting as well. This helps ensure your athletes receive the quality care and attention they deserve.

Our area of need is in the morning 5am -12pm and Friday evening 6-10pm. If you can commit for the full day or for a select number of hours please email us your name, affiliate gym, crossfit experience i.e. level 1 cert or how long have you been crossfitting and t-shirt size.

We appreciate your help,

Thank you

Overview of Invitational purpose

I
just wanted to help some people understand the purpose and driving
force behind the Next Level Invitational. If you did not know already
"CrossFit is a sport for some of us". So with that said look at you
and/or your members as athletes who represent various teams. Your
daily training sessions are practices. Now take the end result of
making it to the CrossFit Games as the Superbowl. This year CrossFit
has created a brief playoff system to handle the sheer numbers of
athletes who feel they are worthy to compete in the arena of the
CrossFit Games. But there are very few "regular season" competitions
for athletes to test their ability It is a very small percentage of
actual CrossFit Games competitors compared to the overwhelming majority
of people who will never make it or who are not ready yet. This is
where events such as the Invitational or the previously successful OC
Throwdown come into play. The Invitational provides game time
scenarios for you and your athletes. With this new experience also
comes knowledge and confidence which allows for improved training
sessions in your box.

As affiliate owners and coaches we have a
responsible to our athletes within our box to provide them with as many
opportunities for success as possible. Introducing them to actual
competition is one of those responsibilities. Many of your athletes
will never realize their true potential until they have their backs
against wall and are forced to fight and execute under pressure. Also
as a coach competition allows you to realize the areas of strength or
weakness in your programming.

The advanced division will test the athlete's
abilities the same as a sectional or regional or even the CrossFit
Games. The intermediate division will be very challenging and will
look to expose weaknesses in an athlete's physical or mental ability.
However, in both divisions if the wods become to challenging for the
athlete then they can modify during wod and will be allowed to finish
the wod and the competition. Their scores will be noted as such and
they will be either dropped to the lower division if coming from the
advanced or simply be placed after all the rx finishers for their
division.

The important thing to remember is that every
workout makes you stronger and every competition gives you experience
under the lights and pressure of being judged.

Call for Judges

Thank you in
advance for your support. An event is only as good as the standards
upheld within the event. Our judges must be our first line of defense
and the gate keepers of range of motion. With that said I have
attached the Judge/ volunteer form to fill out and email back. You
will receive a confirmation email once accepted as judge or volunteer
(everyone will be accepted in some capacity). We have listed the
criteria you must meet in order to be a judge. Thank you again as we
could not pull this event off with your help.

Call for Volunteers

The volunteers are the core of the event. I
need a strong core of dedicated and caring individuals to help with
setup, registration, breakdown, crowd control etc.

Please use the same form as the judges but simply fill it out and write volunteer across the top and email back to me.

Competitor Registration Closing soon!!

We
will be closing on line registration on March 27th 2010. Spectators
will be allowed to register online until April 7th 2010. Spectators
will also be allowed to register on site (cash only on site)

Make sure to check the Next Level Invitational blog for more updates.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or concerns.
